ABOUT US

VRPlants is focused on building fun, interactive, and accessible lessons about plant biology and natural sciences using immersive technologies.

Past projects have included virtual reality games deployed online & offline, immersive visualizations via 360 degree and volumetric video, certificate-bearing workshop instruction for educators, and public installations utilizing virtual reality and 3D scanning. This work is a grant-funded collaboration between the North Carolina State University Libraries and the Department of Plant & Microbial Biology.

The VRPlants team develops projects in short ‘seasonal’ development windows focused on collaboration between our team members and, frequently, colleagues from outside our organizations. This schedule allows for iterative work, continual dissemination, and flexible opportunities for our undergraduate & graduate student team members.

Our work is ongoing and we’re always interested in meeting peers who share our interests in extended reality & interactive media, playful science education, and constructivist games.
